George Dawe was an English portrait artist who painted 329 portraits of Russian generals active during Napoleon’s invasion of Russia for the Military Gallery of the Winter Palace, Saint Petersburg, Russia. Steve Payne uses digital copies of these paintings as a basis for his own work which involves incorporating friends, family and even some celebrities into the paintings using Photoshop.

The original images are large and detailed and although this is digital art, when printed onto canvas and with a suitably ornate gold frame, they do look quite impressive. The canvas texture makes the print look like an actual oil painting. We love this creative idea and today we decided to share it with you. If you wish, you can purchase these stunning works of art at Photoboxgallery.com. Enjoy!

Zombie Redneck by SixFootEwok

Artist’s Comments
His (or, “its”) hat was supposed to say “Trucker Hat”, and then a friend pointed at a picture of Ash, which got us laughing so hard I had to put it in. It will remain, least for now : ) The portrait is for a D&D-esque zombie mod known as Zombicide.
